Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard , due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-accessible content
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
Issues with videos
Some of our videos that we have on our site are not captioned, or may rely on auto-generated captions and may not be completely accurate. Videos do not have an audio description or transcript.
- Some videos do not have captions (WCAG 1.2.2 Captions (Pre-recorded)).
- Some videos use automatically generated captions, which may be inaccurate (WCAG 1.2.2 Captions (Pre-recorded)).
- Some video controls do not have enough contrast (WCAG 2.1 AA success criterion 1.4.11 (non-text contrast)). This is an issue with the YouTube video player.
All new videos will have captions and/or audio description and/or transcript.
We will be investigating and testing the use of alternative accessible video players e.g. AblePlayer.
Issues with PDFs and other documents
We may at times be required to publish some documents provided by external bodies in the format they provide them and therefore cannot make them accessible.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs and other documents
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.
Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
Live video
We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations .
