The Education Observatory undertakes research across all areas of education and allied areas of social policy to secure social justice and regional transformation in the West Midlands. Led by Michael Jopling, Professor in Education and Founding Chair, the Observatory is a premier source of information and data about education in the Black Country, the West Midlands nationally and internationally. Colleagues in the Observatory undertake high quality research, evaluations and consultancy.
This includes working with diverse international, national and regional partners on research collaborations and grant applications relating to all aspects of digital change, digital skills, data, systems and disadvantage. Our varied digital projects, collaborations and events are clustered under a new UNESCO Chair awarded to Professor John Traxler, Professor of Digital Learning and Founding Director of the International Association for Mobile Learning. Located in the Institute of Education at University of Wolverhampton, the Education Observatory was established in 2017 and builds on a long history of innovative research, consultancy, training and evaluation at the University of Wolverhampton.
